Device Test

About Device Test

Device Test is a free set of simple checks for the hardware you use every day: your microphone, webcam, speakers, keyboard and screen. It is useful before a video call, after buying a new monitor or keyboard, or when something stops working and you want to know whether the problem is the device or an app.

What it does

  • Mic test: live input level, device picker, the details your browser reports about the microphone, noise suppression and echo cancellation switches, and an optional 5-second recording you can play back or download.
  • Webcam test: live preview, resolution and frame rate, mirror toggle and snapshots.
  • Keyboard test: on-screen ANSI or ISO layout that lights up each key you press, with a count of the most keys held at once and a chatter (double typing) check.
  • Dead pixel test: full-screen colours and test patterns to spot dead, stuck and hot pixels, banding and backlight bleed, plus a stuck pixel fixer.
  • Speaker test: a short generated sound on the left, right or both speakers.

Privacy by design

All tests run in your browser. Audio and video never leave your device, there are no accounts, and the site’s security settings block connections to other servers. See the Privacy Policy for details.

A browser can only see what your operating system shares with it. These tests are a quick first check; they can’t diagnose every hardware fault. If you find a problem, please let us know.
